Thank You Notes
Dear Saint Paul’s friends,
Thank you for your calls, cards and encouragement after the recent loss of our sister and our son. Our sister was not such a surprise as was our son. Jean had lost her husband earlier this year and she too was in less than good health. They depended so much on each other that we think the depression played a great part in her death.
Our son had suffered with manic bipolar disease for many years. He had served in the US Army during the “Cold War” but was discharged after two and one half years. At that time the Army and our family was unaware of the disease, in fact we did not know of such a malady.
Being manic he would go from high euphoria to extreme depression. We didn’t know why until a doctor interviewing him for a physical exam detected the problem. He was required to take a medication on a regular basis to stay in control. There is no cure. The doctors tell us that it is one of the cruelest diseases of all.
The effects of the disease had started at an early age and the depression would take him back to events that were less than desirable for him. He could not shake the memory and it weighed heavily on his mind.
Earl was creative, artistic, caring, gentile and his daughter always said “the greatest dad ever”. Most of his yard iron work is museum quality. He could turn scrap metal and junk into artwork that could adorn any yard!
Earl overdosed on his medication that took his life. That is hard to accept but his early Catholic teachings were lost somewhere in his confused mind. I believe God understands and is forgiving as are we. We will miss him and his big heart and kind smile.

Dear St. Paul's Lutheran Church,
Thank you for the invitation to Homecoming on September 27 at 10 am. I sincerely appreciate your kindness, however I am just not able to attend. Walking is a challenge now with my severe arthritis in most of my bones.
I will be praying for you on Homecoming Sunday and hoping you have an excellent attendance!
I am sorry I can not come - St. Paul's Congregation is dear to my heart, and I continue to pray for the church, the members, and Pastor Coggins.
May our Lord share His many blessings upon you all.
Sincerely,
Deree A. Smith

Pastor Phillip & St. Paul’s Church,
Thank you all so much for your care and concern during Mendal’s recent illness. Your many calls, visits, and gifts of food helped us endure these difficult times. Your prayers were by far the most helpful. When the doctors said they could do no more, God, in answer to your prayers healed him!
Mendal & Judy Price
