 Thank You Notes

Dear Saint Paul’s friends,

Thank you for your calls, cards and encouragement after the recent loss of our sister and our son. Our sister was not such a surprise as was our son. Jean had lost her husband earlier this year and she too was in less than good health. They depended so much on each other that we think the depression played a great part in her death.

Our son had suffered with manic bipolar disease for many years. He had served in the US Army during the “Cold War” but was discharged after two and one half years. At that time the Army and our family was unaware of the disease, in fact we did not know of such a malady.

Being manic he would go from high euphoria to extreme depression. We didn’t know why until a doctor interviewing him for a physical exam detected the problem. He was required to take a medication on a regular basis to stay in control. There is no cure. The doctors tell us that it is one of the cruelest diseases of all.

The effects of the disease had started at an early age and the depression would take him back to events that were less than desirable for him. He could not shake the memory and it weighed heavily on his mind.

Earl was creative, artistic, caring, gentile and his daughter always said “the greatest dad ever”. Most of his yard iron work is museum quality. He could turn scrap metal and junk into artwork that could adorn any yard!

Earl overdosed on his medication that took his life. That is hard to accept but his early Catholic teachings were lost somewhere in his confused mind. I believe God understands and is forgiving as are we. We will miss him and his big heart and kind smile.

Dear St. Paul's Lutheran Church,

Thank you for the invitation to Homecoming on September 27 at 10 am. I sincerely appreciate your kindness, however I am just not able to attend. Walking is a challenge now with my severe arthritis in most of my bones.

I will be praying for you on Homecoming Sunday and hoping you have an excellent attendance!

I am sorry I can not come - St. Paul's Congregation is dear to my heart, and I continue to pray for the church, the members, and Pastor Coggins.

May our Lord share His many blessings upon you all.

     Sincerely,

Deree A. Smith

Pastor Phillip & St. Paul’s Church,

Thank you all so much for your care and concern during Mendal’s recent illness. Your many calls, visits, and gifts of food helped us endure these difficult times. Your prayers were by far the most helpful. When the doctors said they could do no more, God, in answer to your prayers healed him!

Dear Members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church,

We are so grateful to you for meeting an imminent need for us through your Operation Inas Much community service program. The Lord has truly blessed us during my husband's illness through the love and aid of our family and friends. Ricky and Jan Price, especially, have been a never-ending source of support during this time. It is our prayer that the Lord will bless all of you and your church for spreading the love of Jesus thorough this monumental project to fix our road.

If my husband did not have a compromised immune system, we would thank you in person. However, we hope you will accept this humble token of our appreciation to place flowers at the altar in recognition of the loving kindness expressed to us through your church.

In His Love,

Jimmy & Gail Wright

WOW!

A group of people descended on my yard and after several hours transformed it from an eyesre jungle to a manageable yard. Thank you, thank you all!

When they were done they all looked tired, but, none of them appeared to be sorry they had been here.

We, my wife Mary and I, cna't say thank you enough. That people will help others as these people did is amazing.

Also, thank you to Janet Boyd for heading up it up and Faye Horne for putting our name in for assistance. God really has some good workers.

With Love and thanks,

Mary & John Argenziano

Dear Friends at St. Paul's Lutheran Church,

On behalf of Sistercare, Inc., I would like to Thank You for your generous donations. Thanks to you, we will be able to assist battered women within the office of OVW (Office of Violence Against Woman) Transitional Housing Program. Your donation will be very much appreciated by our women.

Because of your efforts, the back of my car was full of paper and cleaning products, hygiene products and

non-perishable items. These are essential items for re-stocking a home and helping women to feel that they are

re-building lives for themselves and their children. We are so deeply grateful for the generosity of your friends and we will now be able to assist more families in need.

I invite you to check out our updated website www.sistercare.org where you can find more information about our Organization and sign up for our newsletter. Again, Thank You so much for your generous donations, we really appreciate it.

If you have any questions and/or concerns, please feel free to give me a call at my work cell 201-9026 or office phone number at 926-0505 ext. 148.

     Sincerely,

     Paola Valverde, MS, VSP
